Underlying Patterns is a two-person exhibition by MFA candidates Emily Collins and Nicole Weldy. Through the observation of hierarchical relationships and the visual elements within them, the artists manipulate materials to make the unseen a tangible experience. By interpreting repetitive behavior over time or an amalgamation of units in nature, works in the exhibition find new ways to engage with perception, aesthetics, and documentation. They provide space for healing and growth, and reveal multiple aspects of pattern.
